Title Use of eye-tracking for studying survey response processes
Year 2005
Access date 19.10.2005
Abstract We have recently conducted several web-based experiments in which we manipulated various visual elements of a questionnaire: presence or absence of pictures, use of drop-down lists versus radio buttons, providing definitions via roll-over or mouse-click, and varying the orders of response options. In this preliminary study we test the usability of eye-tracking equipment in investigating the mechanisms underlying the results of these experiments. We will share the first results and experiences, and comment on feasibility of use of eye-tracking in future studies.
